Gal Weinstein was born in Ramat Gan, Israel and currently lives and works in Tel Aviv. He received a BFA from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem (1997). Weinstein’s recent solo exhibition include Valley of Jezreel, Herzliya Museum (2002); Roof, Bienal Internacional de São Paulo, Brazil (2002); San Francisco Art Institute, CA (2001); Drawings, Barbara Davis Gallery, Houston, TX (2001); The Art Gallery, Haifa University (1999); 4 Men, ArtFocus 3, The Teddy Kollek Stadium, Jerusalem (1999); and 3 Artists, 3 Solo Shows, Artists’ Studios Gallery, Tel Aviv (1998). The artist’s group exhibitions include Transfer, The Israel Museum, Jerusalem (2002); LandEscapes, Moore College of Art, Philadelphia, PA (2002); Arte in Memoria, Ostia Antica, Italy (2002); The Arturo Schwarz Collection, Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2001); Passage 5, a collaboration with Pedro Cabrita Reis, Chelouche Gallery, Tel Aviv (2000); Havana Nagila: Cuba-Israel Dialogue, Chelouche Gallery, Tel Aviv (2000); and Hiriya in the Museum, Tel Aviv Museum of Art (1999).
Weinstein received the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship (2000) and the Artist-Teacher Fellowship from the Israeli Ministry of Science, Culture, and Sport (2000). After
completing his residency at Art in General, Weinstein will be in group shows at Krefelder Kunstmuseen and Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany (2003).
