Varsha Nair was born in Kampala, Uganda. She currently lives and works in Bangkok, Thailand. Nair received her B.F.A. from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda, India. She has had both group and solo exhibitions in Europe, India, Asia, and Australia. Most recently Nair’s work has been included in a traveling group exhibit entitled Text and Subtext, which has been shown in Singapore, Australia, Sweden, and Norway (2000-2003). Other group and collaborative exhibitions include Free Parking, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand (2002); Home, Collegium Artisticum, Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina (2002); Women Breaking Boundaries, Hillside Forum, Tokyo, Japan (2001); and Who Owns Women’s Bodies, Scapular Gallery Nomad, Thailand and the Philippines (2000-2002). Nair is also the co-founder and organizer of Womanifesto, a bi-annual, international artist event for and by women that takes place in Bangkok, Thailand.
