POTLUCK I: Creation
Public Program
Oct 13, 2007
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
The opening of the POTLUCK Collective, POTLUCK I: CREATION, establishes the exploration of cooking as creation, and what happens when the amassed creations of a group are collectively consumed. Each person’s dish functions as a metaphor for artistic creation, in its need for the creator to leave a bit of themselves behind in the work that they then offer up to the community for consumption and sustenance.
Participants are invited to label their works, exhibited for perusal and critique on the tables in the gallery, with the title, date, and medium of the piece. Works range from Serial Pesto, Oct 13, 1997, Olive Oil; and A Fiasco, 10/13/07, Pan, Peas, Pasta, Sause; to Quiche (in 3 parts), 10/13, 4:35 pm, Styrofoam.
Potlucks are, in chronological order, POTLUCK I: CREATION, POTLUCK II: RITUAL, POTLUCK III: COMMODITY, and POTLUCK IV: FETISH.
Funding is made possible through a generous gift The Gatsby Charitable Foundation.
