The Mating Habits of Lines: Sketchbooks and Notebooks of Ree Morton (1936-1977)
Ree Morton
Curated by Janie Cohen, Barbara Zucker
Ree Morton was an extraordinary artist, whose life was cut short by a car accident in 1977. Over the course of her brief, yet prolific ten-year career, Morton created a wealth of drawings, paintings, sculptures, and installations. Curated by Janie Cohen and Barbara Zucker, The Mating Habits of Lines features Morton’s sketchbooks and journals, which include pages of drawings, journal entries, letters, collected quotes, plans for work, and bits of art world gossip. The show was previously on exhibit at the Robert Hull Fleming Museum, University of Vermont, Burlington, and The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA. A catalogue was published by the Fleming Museum on occasion of the exhibition.
