The Conversation
Barbara Takenaga
The Conversation began as a dialogue about cultural identity held between Barbara Takenaga and a group of fourth graders from the Chinatown Planning Council’s After School Program. Over the course of five weeks, the students participated in workshops with Takenaga in which they were introduced to various modes of art making. The resulting installation is an exploration of the impact of public signs on the formation of cultural identity.
