For his residency, Javier Téllez has recreated a sanatorium in the form of a padded plywood cell inside of which a video plays showing actual footage of the interiors of mental institutions across the world. Téllez views mental hospitals as microcosms of society at large—defined by their marginality and identified by “abnormality.”
