Hope Springs Eternal is a poetic and wittily wrought statement about the life-protecting properties of the latex contained in condoms. The site-specific installation created by Lynne Yamamoto features a bundle of winter rye grass cradled in a latex hammock; an overhead heat lamp and glowing heater below sustain the winter rye, suggesting an affirming life force.
