Prop Closet

Prop Closet is inspired by the play Curio Cabinet, written by Jean Cocteau, in which porcelain figurines converse with one another in a cabinet. Created by Michelle Weinberg, the installation uses the window as a stage on which a mini-opera takes place. Pink and purple painted objects such as coffee cups, plates, flashlights and mini dumbbells adorn the stage and have hand-written inscriptions on them such as “drink me”, “peace”, “it’s mine”, and “while you were out.” A bright pink curtain closes once an hour for intermission.
