Fourth Annual Video Marathon
This year’s Video Marathon will present a variety of programs both internationally and locally produced. The programs include recently produced tapes by media activist organizations, independent media centers and youth programs responding to the social and political impact of September 11 on New York organized by Carlos Pareja, Paper Tiger Television, fAf, fineartforum, an international video curatorial project based in Malaysia presents its inaugural 15th fAf Anniversary Traveling Screening Program, a 1-hour digital program consisting of digital, multimedia, film works by artists from Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, France, and the Philippines curated by Nisar Keshvani, a program of work organized by Euridice Arratia, independent curator, drawn from past video exhibitions for Art in General’s 20th Anniversary; a dinner break/ cooking performance by The Cook Sisters; the featured screening of Canal Street: First Stop In America by Keiko Tsuno, DCTV and Professor Peter Kwong, Hunter College, takes us on an insider’s tour of this bustling street, a program of new video work from China organized by Christopher Phillips, Curator, International Center of Photography, La Vista Cinema Club presents for the third year 16 mm films drawn from the Donnell Media Center at the New York Public Library, a program of short video work curated by Art in General’s Video Advisory Panel from general submissions, and SQUARESQUARE will wrap up the Marathon with live video and sound mixing for our dance party.
