Love Song for General Tools

Davidmore01_144_144David Moré’s work is the result of his experimentation with ordinary objects to produce sound, exposing listeners to subtle sonic events that occur in everyday life. For Art in General’s audio program, David has produced a composition utilizing the sounds extracted from common tools.

A newly commissioned work for the elevator and stairwell, Love Song for General Tools pays tribute to the employees of General Tools, the company that owns the building in which Art in General operates that has generously donated exhibition space for the past 25 years. Inspired by Aerosmith’s Love in an Elevator and taking into consideration the tendency to appropriate pop songs to create smooth jazzy elevator music, Moré has created a second easy listening version of his piece for Art in General’s elevator, Love Song for General Tools (I’d rather take the stairs).
