Rock's Role (After Ryoanji)

Publication

$5.00

An audio cd and 12-page booklet to accompany the group exhibition of sound art in which seventeen sound works that respond to John Cage’s musical transliterations of the famed Japanese Zen rock garden, Ryoanji, were selected from an Open Call for Submissions and newly commissioned. In the exhibition, the individual works not only co-exist within the gallery space, but also overlap and interact to form a constantly evolving composition or soundscape. The audio cd features 28 tracks that consist of a mix of all of the works by the seventeen artists and the accompanying booklet includes an essay by curator Ron Kuivila as well as an annotated bibliogaphy of sound art exhibitions. ISBN: 1-883967-17-1
